Q: Is it okay to plant flowers in with my vegetables?
A: It’s not only okay, it’s encouraged. Choose short-growing annuals that won’t compete with your veggies for sunlight. They will attract pollinators, add beautiful color, and some (like marigolds) are said to be insect repellents. Try some with edible flowers – nasturtium, calendula, borage, marigolds, pansies to name a few – to mix into salads, flavor vinegar or oils, or to use as a garnish.
