Q: What are some reliably returning, easy care bulbs for our region?

Alliums are easy to grow Bulbs in Colorado

A: When the bulb catalogs arrive, it’s so tempting to order the hottest new tulip or rare iris.

If you want “sure-bet” bulbs that are winter-hardy and long-lived, plant Triumph and Darwin tulips, species tulips, and my favorite - the viridiflorus tulips.

Most daffodils and jonquils will thrive here. Spanish squill, grape hyacinths, and all alliums are easy, if sometimes too successful.
