Q: The geraniums I overwintered indoor are scheduled to go back outside later this month but they have gotten leggy and unattractive. Can I cut them back now?

A: Yes. Geraniums, coleus, hibiscus and other plants wintered over indoors can get leggy if not pinched back regularly. Go ahead and cut back the long, weak or spindly growth back to strong, healthy stems. Shaping the plant into a compact, attractive form. This can be as much as 50%. Avoid repotting until you see new growth. Then start feeding on a regular basis.
